Meet Alex

Dad of three, full-time career, lifelong love of training and food. Founder of Peaks to Waves Nutrition and builder of Waves Tracking.

My Story

Over the past 2 months I've been really focusing on my nutrition, going from 230-235 pounds to 209 pounds as of writing this testimony.

I was tired of feeling "soft", seeing my stomach while wearing a T-shirt, and just feeling like crap after eating. Like I said, I started at a weight that averaged 230-235 pounds, with 240-245 being my heaviest over the last few years. I knew what I needed to do, but always struggled with sticking to it. I was never a fan of "diets", they helped people loose weight, but they weren't compatible with normal every day living in my opinion. I have 3 kids 5 and under, a full-time job, and other responsibilities, all requiring my time and attention. I didn't have time to focus on a specific diet, let alone prepare a meal separate from what my family was eating. I had to make our normal, which wasn't that "bad" in all honestly, work. The best thing I found for me was counting my macros and calories of what I was eating already.

I had used tracking apps before, but never stuck with them. They all seemed too complicated or I hit a pay wall that I didn't want to pay. So in typical Alex fashion, I built my own. I built an app that logged my food, counted calories and macros, tracked workouts, hydration, and weight. This app eventually turned into Waves Tracking.

I used the app religiously. I could easily add ingredients, and even take pictures or describe what I ate and AI would analyze and give a best estimate of what the calorie and macro numbers were. Having the tracking work simply and easily really helped me continue to use the app. I wasn't getting frustrated and giving up. It really motivated me to keep track of my food and to reach my numbers.

Long story short, the app gave me the motivation to not give up and keep going.

Nearly 2 months later I've lost over 20lbs. I feel better, I look leaner, and I'm seeing more muscle definition than when I started this journey. This entire experience has reignited a passion in me for fitness and nutrition. I've always loved food, whether it was trying a new recipie or cooking meals for my family. I'm more interested in what goes into my body and how to best fuel it for what ever life has to throw at me. I've started looking into and pursuing nutrition certifications and even graduate level courses, with the main goal of starting my own nutrition coaching practice called "Peaks To Waves Nutrition."

I want to be able to help people, always been one of my main core motivators, and doing so through nutrition is how I'm going to do it. I believe the sky is the limit for me in this journey and I can't wait to get started.

Why Peaks to Waves?

I didn't create Peaks to Waves because I thought people needed another diet. I created it because I experienced how hard it is to make nutrition work inside real life — family, work, training, and everything else — and found an approach that finally worked for me.

Peaks to Waves Nutrition exists to help busy, active adults build sustainable nutrition habits that fit their actual lives. That means consistency over restriction, real life over perfection, and helping you understand your nutrition instead of just handing you a list of foods to eat.

My results are my own. Everyone's body, schedule, and starting point are different, and coaching is about building habits you can maintain — not promising a specific outcome.
